Press conference, August 24

Yesterday, Dr. Paul Sereno held a press conference at the library.

Dinosaurs are up at Gail Borden, by Janelle Walker. Courier News (Elgin, Ill.), Thursday, August 25, 2005.

"'In my head, I see the dinosaurs walking out of pages in a book,' Sereno said Wednesday as officials, library staff and reporters got their first glimpse of the dinosaurs now gracing the 2-year-old library. A total of six full-sized dinosaur [and one reptile] skeletons [from Africa] were assembled in the library over the weekend. ... The Gail Borden exhibit puts them all together for the first time. ...

Although the dinosaurs and other displays are in place, signs explaining the bones and other pieces have not yet been installed. Volunteers are not set to receive docent training until next week. The official opening of the exhibit is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 6, and it will remain at the library through Jan. 2. [So far], 182 organizations representing nearly 10,000 people have signed up for group tours. A total of 175 people have volunteered either as docents who will lead the tours or to work in the new gift shop or with installation of the exhibit." [More]

  • Carl: Thanks! I still haven't done the Parade of Dinos but I'll get to it soon. I want to see what the painted dinos look like in the wild.
